INTRODUCTION

I am Chuck Dillon. I am running for the office of Madeira Beach Commissioner for District 2 on March 15, 2022. At the start, know that I have never run for an office and I am not a politician. I am running for Commissioner to bring my experience, attitude, and judgment to the Board. I do so to improve the quality of life our city offers to its residents and to offer transparency and reason to all issues of public and private development.

BACKGROUND

I am a 10-year resident and homeowner in Madeira Beach. When I worked full time, I was a Service Manager for both Trans World Airlines and American Airlines. I also worked for 23 years as a Project Manager for different construction companies, overseeing and managing many large construction projects, often at the same time.  While I am currently semi-retired, I am an active auxiliary member at Post 273 of the American Legion. I am also an auxiliary Officer for the VFW Post 4256. I also recently volunteered to help the City's Crystal Island Roadway Project which started three years ago. I took an interest in that project as a homeowner with considerable construction project experience. I was curious to learn the details of the project based on my background.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Design from Southern Illinois University. I enjoy going to the beach and boating. I have two adult sons and a brand new grandson on the way!

WHY I AM RUNNING

Once I took an interest in the Crystal Island Project and put various questions to the Board about the Project, I was asked to work with city personnel to bring the benefits of my knowledge and experience to the Project.  After my work on the project, several Madeira Beach residents asked me to run for my District Commissioner position so the City and its residents could benefit from my background and positive attitude. I agreed with those requests and I am now seeking the Commissioner position.

IF I AM ELECTED

Set out below are the general objectives I plan to achieve when elected:

  • Act as a voice for Madeira Beach residents/homeowners on the Board.

  • Open public interest with transparency and debate as to the future public and private development.

  • Use my knowledge/experience to review and evaluate city planning and contracts.

  • Seek increased enforcement of beach prohibitions against ordnance violations such as dogs and electric bikes.

  • Generally oppose rezoning residential properties!
